Hey guys it seems like its been so long since I talked to you guys so I thought I'd bring up the topic of next phase. I know some of us talked about a plan but I'm not sure where we are at with it.
Mercing with Last Sentinels has been really informative, far more than going with HR was. Last Sentinels is attempting to get several smaller alliances together to form a larger alliance to try to win regions or larger prizes. Their plan is to get a group of 4-6 alliances together and then rotate who "hosts" that current phase. So far its been a pretty good phase in that they are really competing, but I'm pretty confident we are going to lose. In fact we had 2nd for most of the time I've been with them and we are on the cusp of losing that. But its the lesson from that, that I wanted to bring up for next phase.
Last Sentinel ( LS) set up two level 20 camps and a sacrificial camp in the stormlands to go up against One Thousand and One Eyes ( 1k1 ). Basically the first two days I was there they just sent wave after wave to 1k1 in offensive actions to accrue VP to overtake them, but here's where the first problem arose. 1k1 only built level 15 camps and with those could still out garrison us 2 to 1. Those first days they hardly hit us back and we kept up but couldn't overtake. This caused the leadership to decide to hit the third place alliance We Take Whats Ours with Fire and Blood ( We Take )because they had level 20 support camps. This caused the 2nd problem because they were the training/farm camp for 1k1 and were promised 2nd. At that point 1k1 opened up and the Kongs Landing or whatever then came in and its been bad since.
But there were some take home lessons. First lesson is how important camp size is with the new changes. Building a level 20 is bad unless you can a. garrison it, b. not get in areas where other alliances will need you for VP. Looking back I'm actually pretty surprised that we haven't been hit more with our level 20's. LS has literally been scouring the region for anyone that's built a level 20 because they don't get the optimum VP if they hit a camp less that their 20. If that makes sense. So if we decide to do an offensive phase we need to be very careful how we build our camps. I'm not saying that we shouldn't build 20's, we just need to be sure that we don't go over our competition.
And the main lesson Ive learned is that if we want to compete for a region or some day an overall. Then we should seriously consider either something like what LS is doing or start actively growing. I believe LS has four alliances contributing some members and some mercs and is greatly outgunned. Just 1k1 by itself was enough to really turn up the heat but as soon as KL arrived it was really bad. We basically ungarrisoned the camps. I'm literally not sure how many SS's Ive lost. That's another lesson. I thought having 2x's my CP in SS's was enough. Not even close. Now I'm thinking 3-4x. I'm just keeping them naked, no work done whatsoever on them.
This has definetly been a good learning experience but unfortunately I'm pretty sure I'm not even gonna get out of this with a better prize than the basic one, but I think I've made some good contacts at least. And we should talk about what are goals are as an alliance. And I'd propose that we do something at least moderately offensive in nature this coming on phase. Maybe we try for relentless or reaver. Frankly maybe Col just chooses and we go with it. but we should really plan out how we build the camp and garrison it.
