A modest proposalI was talking to Sam in the Shoutbox, and thought I should bring this the the broader alliance. I propose that, after taking two or three WE off, we make a run at 24 level 20 camps. I would make a spreadsheet for all the required materials, and then we would follow a plan: Stage 1
| The Reach | >> | Barter | To level 10
|
| The Reach | >> | Aid
| To level 10
|
| The Reach | >> | Spy | To level 10
| Stage 2
| The Reach
| >>
| Aid
| To Level 20
|
| The Reach | >> | Barter | To level 20 |
| The Reach | >> | Spy | To level 20 |
| The North | >> | Aid | To level 20 |
| The North | >> | Aid | To level 20 |
| The North | >> | Barter | To level 20 |
| Westerlands | >> | Aid | To level 20 |
| Westerlands | >> | Aid | To level 20 |
| Westerlands | >> | Barter
| To level 20 |
| Iron Islands
| >> | Aid | To level 20 |
| Iron Islands
| >>
| Aid
| To level 20
|
| Iron Islands | >> | Barter | To level 20 |
| Stormlands
| >>
| Aid
| To level 20
|
| Stormlands | >> | Aid | To level 20 |
| Stormlands | >> | Barter | To level 20 |
| Crownlands | >> | Aid | To level 20 |
| Crownlands | >> | Aid | To level 20 |
| Crownlands
| >>
| Barter
| To level 20
|
| Riverlands
| >>
| Aid
| To level 20
|
| Riverlands
| >>
| Aid
| To level 20
|
| Riverlands
| >>
| Barter
| To level 20

We only garrison troops in The Reach to mine Aid spoils, with a migrant troop trading in the regions we are developing. Leaving us with 3 well manned level 20 camps in the Reach and level 20 camps throughout the rest of the realm. The construction bonuses of these camps will likely get us the top overall spot, which would be a great achievement for a tier 1 alliance. It will take months of planning and as soon as we finish a couple RI cycles we will need to start grinding materials. I understand that having so many Aid camps and so few intrigue camps may increase the stocking time for the Battle mats, but it will allow us to stay focused at another shout at the Aid prize in The Reach whether we get it this time or not. I'll try and do the spreadsheet later so everyone can see what we would be looking at.

Damn you two are an ambitious group!
I'm going to play devils advocate and give you two big reasons I think this could be undo able.
1. We won't have enough CP. You and cristan are two go our higher ranked players and even after a couple of off phases I think it will be tough to get back up enough. Especially because it will become obvious what we're doing and some big hitters will come for us. We've slowed down this phase and it's one camp. It might be impossible to generate the spoils needed in an alliance this size.
But more importantly
2. Can we update a camp that's damaged at 100%, because these camps will look like farm camps and will get hit incessantly. I think we can but the silver required to do so will be formidable.
I'm not against this, in fact it sounds kinda cool and audacious but unfortunately probably not doable. I would say maybe we try six or twelve at the most. And we would need to start saving silver now. Or, and I'm only talking here, but maybe we recruit and try to go to fifty.

Alex,
1. We may have issues there, we may actually need to start preparing in late March (giving everyone time to do some RI runs) and go for it in July.
2. We will not abandon a camp until it is level 20. We will simply move our migrant army in, have them farm barters until the camps hit 20 then leave. They can hit them all they like after we get to 20.
I understand this is audacious and a little crazy, but I would say we go for 24 and see how many we get, rather than trying for 6-12 and then wondering if we could have done a couple more...
Finally, one aspect that makes this audacious and would make it awe-inspiring if we succeeded is that we are a tier 1 alliance. It would be twice as easy to do this with a tier 2, four times as easy with a tier 3. I am not talking about easy, I am talking about making a run for the history books. I am talking about creating an Legend, and Paying the Iron Price to make it so.

You know I had a thought. My initial thinking was that it would be really hard to defend a camp while your growing it because some biggy would catch on and hit us but all you would have to do was move to the next region. Say we're in the iron islands at level 12's and someone starts hitting us hard, all we have to do is go to the next region and start it. Eventually that biggy stops hitting us and we go back. Hell only the first camp is important right, for the easy spoil generation, the others can be dropped and restarted at leisure. This is seeming more doable to me but silver will definitely be a major need.

All of our Aid spoils will come from The Reach. We only have to mine the Barter spoils/silver in-region. If we can help some other alliances in the meantime and scare up A LOT of bribes, this is very doable...

We'd have to protect the reach, it's our main spoil generator but this really hinges on if you can level a damaged camp. I'm pretty sure you can, kings of the north worldwide seemed to do it last phase but I wasn't sure if they paid to undamage it prior to it's leveling.
The more I think about this the more doable it seems but the balls it will take. Plus I think if your gonna sell this to everyone, then everyone who's going to needs to RI now so we'll be ready with high CP levels by July or when we launch. I also think we should do a dry run, say make 8 level 15 camps to iron out problems or things we don't think of.

A dry run might set us back a while for prepping supplies. That being said, it might speed up our game. We had pretty much all our mats prepared and we are still falling behind the top three in The Reach, and the only difference is experience.
btw, if you want to know why it is taking me a while to put together the new spreadsheet, here is one of the formulas...
=IF(G5="x",0,6)+IF(G6="x",0,9)+IF(G7="x",0,12)+IF(G8="x",0,15)+IF(G9="x",0,40)+IF(G9="x",0,60)+IF(H5="x",0,6)+IF(H6="x",0,9)+IF(H7="x",0,12)+IF(H8="x",0,15)+IF(H9="x",0,40)+IF(H9="x",0,60)+IF(I5="x",0,6)+IF(I6="x",0,9)+IF(I7="x",0,12)+IF(I8="x",0,15)+IF(I9="x",0,40)+IF(I9="x",0,60)+IF(J5="x",0,6)+IF(J6="x",0,9)+IF(J7="x",0,12)+IF(J8="x",0,15)+IF(J9="x",0,40)+IF(J9="x",0,60)+IF(K5="x",0,6)+IF(K6="x",0,9)+IF(K7="x",0,12)+IF(K8="x",0,15)+IF(K9="x",0,40)+IF(K9="x",0,60)+IF(L5="x",0,6)+IF(L6="x",0,9)+IF(L7="x",0,12)+IF(L8="x",0,15)+IF(L9="x",0,40)+IF(L9="x",0,60)+IF(M5="x",0,6)+IF(M6="x",0,9)+IF(M7="x",0,12)+IF(M8="x",0,15)+IF(M9="x",0,40)+IF(M9="x",0,60)+IF(N5="x",0,6)+IF(N6="x",0,9)+IF(N7="x",0,12)+IF(N8="x",0,15)+IF(N9="x",0,40)+IF(N9="x",0,60)+IF(O5="x",0,6)+IF(O6="x",0,9)+IF(O7="x",0,12)+IF(O8="x",0,15)+IF(O9="x",0,40)+IF(O9="x",0,60)+IF(P5="x",0,6)+IF(P6="x",0,9)+IF(P7="x",0,12)+IF(P8="x",0,15)+IF(P9="x",0,40)+IF(P9="x",0,60)+IF(Q5="x",0,6)+IF(Q6="x",0,9)+IF(Q7="x",0,12)+IF(Q8="x",0,15)+IF(Q9="x",0,40)+IF(Q9="x",0,60)+IF(R5="x",0,6)+IF(R6="x",0,9)+IF(R7="x",0,12)+IF(R8="x",0,15)+IF(R9="x",0,40)+IF(R9="x",0,60)+IF(S5="x",0,6)+IF(S6="x",0,9)+IF(S7="x",0,12)+IF(S8="x",0,15)+IF(S9="x",0,40)+IF(S9="x",0,60)+IF(T5="x",0,6)+IF(T6="x",0,9)+IF(T7="x",0,12)+IF(T8="x",0,15)+IF(T9="x",0,40)+IF(T9="x",0,60)+IF(U5="x",0,6)+IF(U6="x",0,9)+IF(U7="x",0,12)+IF(U8="x",0,15)+IF(U9="x",0,40)+IF(U9="x",0,60)

Now that I've had the chance to go back over it... CP will be a problem. We'll need to defend the Reach Aid camp for spoil production. Ideally that would mean each of us leaves 50 swords in the Garrison. Each of us would need quite a few migrant workers to go from region to region so nothing less than 70 CP per player. The time it would take to produce the mats would be insane so I don't see silver being an issue. If we started banking as soon as we decided to go ahead with the plan, we'd all be at least 8 figures. I know I've cried wolf before, but I am definitely doing my RI immediately after this AvsA. I won't be terribly long. Only doing 2 rounds to open Tully and Martell...possibly the 3rd to end up Stark but frankly haven't decided if I'll bother with the last one. I have lots of bread, mead, and Arbour Gold so I'll be back to a decent level in a month or so. We'll see if this plan is still in the works by then

Cristan, I'm in a similar position, although I may try to power through 24 RI in two weeks, but I should have more CP and power once I finish, and be ready to make a run at this if we go for it.
btw, finished about half the battle camp before I headed out to the gym. The trade camp will take less time, and the intrigue is done, because the plan only calls for one.
I've heard from Alex and Cristan about the audacity, but my question is, is this the best plan or, if we do it, should we take a more balanced approach?

I love this idea...we have to try it at least! Whilst those of you are who are RI-ing the rest of us can build and gather everything we can, stockpile supplies and coins and build our armies. This could be so much fun...

That would certainly give us a bit of time to gather what we need and give it a good go.

On a personal note, March & April are terrible months for me. I do a lot of traveling for work and have limited internet access. May and June tend to be a bit better but not a lot. So what I'm saying is the material production pace that I'm going through now while on vacation will be slowed to a crawl in the spring
